Yes. Even though the fax, print, and file servers do not require it, your broadband Internet connection is used by ONS to perform system monitoring and maintenance on the server.

If the Internet connection fails, we do have the ability to dial into the system by modem over a telephone line. However, this is only for an unusual situation where there is no other way for us to manage the server and troubleshoot problems.  It is not intended as a normal means of server management since it is much slower and ties up your fax line.
