Where should I have the server installed? E-mail

During the pre-installation review, we will work with you to determine the best place in your office to install the server.  We will identify a location that is

  • at least 36" x 36" and at least 6" off the floor.
  • within 6 feet of a power outlet. The outlet must not be on a GFCI circuit. Ideally, the outlet should be on a different circuit from any laser printers or copiers.
  • within 6 feet of a telephone jack with the line you will use for your fax server. The telephone line should be dedicated for fax use and should not go through a PBX.
  • away from any source of water, chemicals, and away from windows.
  • where power, network, and phone wires will not cross a walkway.
  • not in a janitorial closet or in unfinished or dirty space.
  • not in space that is unlighted, unheated or not air-conditioned.
  • is near your DSL modem or T-1 equipment.
  • is near your hardware firewall, network switch/hub.
  • is within 15 feet of where the shared printer is, or would be, placed.
