Can I plug my printer/copier/coffee pot into the server's UPS? E-mail

You should never plug any devices into the server's UPS that were not connected during system installation.

The server will run on the UPS battery for approximately 30 to 45 minutes, depending on number of hard drives that are installed and the load on the server during the power outage.  The UPS will also power your DSL modem and your network hub or switch so that it can still provide services while utility power is off.

Adding additional devices reduces the available running time and may overload the UPS.  We recommend that you purchase a dedicated UPS system for each computer you have in order to protect it from voltage variations and power loss.  The UPS is sized and installed to power only the devices that we have connected during installation.

If you need additional outlets, you should contact a qualified electrician and coordinate the repair time with ONS Customer Support so that we can properly power-down the server if necessary.

Plugging in coffee pots, copiers, printers or lamps into the UPS can cause the server to corrupt your data files or to permanently damage the server's hardware.
