ONS Managed servers use Genuine Intel® processors and motherboards.  Memory and expansion cards are tested in our systems to ensure that they are compatible and will operate trouble-free over the life of the machine.

Reliability is the most important quality of a server. The reliability of hard drives, processors, memory and motherboards is directly related to the performance of the cooling system.  Your car can't run for long without oil and water to keep it cool; servers can't run for long without proper cooling. That's why we use extra cooling fans and continuously monitor them for proper airflow.

We also monitor the system temperatures, power supplies, disk drives, your internet connection, and all the services that are provided. We constantly verify that all the services, such as email, web, and file servers, are working properly by connecting to them just the same way that you do.  This means that we can quickly address any problems or pending failures, usually before you are even aware of them.

Some people think that they can buy "generic" components and build a network server. While this may be fine for a home computer, it is not a good idea for a server that will process your critical business data.

Many product lines such as Asus, MSI, AMD are intended for home, hobby, or low-cost workstation use and are not suitable for business servers. We use only components made by recognized leaders in quality and reliability such as Sony, Seagate, Intel, and 3Com.  Improved cooling, redundant hard drives, and Genuine Intel® processors and motherboards make the system cost more, but they save you many times their cost in increased reliability over the life of the server.

Our systems are thoroughly tested for both functional performance and under heavy loads during a 48-hour burn-in process. This ensures that the system you receive will provide years of reliable operation.
