Can we use the fax server with a PBX? E-mail

Since PBX systems often do not transfer Caller-ID properly and create issues associated with fax/data call routing and signal quality, we recommend that the line that you will use for server not be a PBX extension. Rather, the analog telephone line should come directly from your local telephone service provider.

If you must use a PBX, you will need to ask your PBX vendor to set up the line for inbound fax/data calls. ONS cannot guarantee that your PBX analog lines are compatible with our fax/data modem.  ONS does not perform PBX modifications or programming.

If you need to dial "8", "9" or some other access codes in order to obtain an outside line from the PBX line used by the server, we will need to configure the server to take this into account.

For inbound calls to work on a PBX, there must be a means to automatically route fax and data modem calls to the line connected to the server. This means that your voicemail system must be capable of recognizing fax/data calls and automatically routing them to the extension used by the server.
